Presenter: Adam Koberna, Walltopia
Walltopia’s Harmonized System is a new concept in climbing wall design that will revolutionize climbing gyms and route setting. The interchangeable wall elements of the Harmonized system and its online platform will create a network of routes that can be shared throughout the world.
The Harmonized System consists of the following:
- 66 wall elements for lead climbing 8 top out bouldering elements
- 85 boulder elements
- 300 holds
- An online platform for route sharing.
We believe the Harmonized System will change the way climbing gyms work by allowing gym owners, route setters and climbers to communicate with one another by the replication of routes via the online platform. With new routes being constantly uploaded, the possibilities for climbers to share are endless. Walltopia’s Harmonized System has added benefits such as a buy back option, relocation, leasing and collateral.

The system is specifically designed for indoor top roping and lead climbing and comes in both a carpet bonded foam and vinyl covering. This revolutionary flooring system is designed to absorb the impact of a fall from up to 60’ and still allows a comfortable surface for people to walk on. The secret to ONE MORE LIFE’s energy absorbing qualities lies in the flooring structure’s innovative three layer technology. One More Life features the following:
• Designed for indoor lead and top rope climbing
• Walk friendly surface layer;
• Low impact energy absorbing layer;
• High impact energy layer;
• Available in both vinyl and carpet-bonded coverage.

Auto belays are proving to be good partners. Not just for climbers, but for the climbing gyms that incorporate an auto belay program into their facilities. Providing auto belays at your climbing gym attracts new members and increases participation. The TRUBLUE auto belay is the only auto belay on the market that meets international safety standards for fall arrest devices. Join us to learn about the technology behind this innovative auto belay. We’ll also show you how other climbing gyms are incorporating auto belays into their facilities.
Presenter: Mark Wellman, Misty Mountain
The goal of this presentation is to expose the climbing wall industry to the Misty Mountain adaptive harnesses. Mark Wellman, the first paraplegic climber to scale El Capitan, will demonstrate Misty Mountain’s ARC Harness and Ascenders.
Presenter: Cort Gariepy, Rockwerx
Rockwerx has designed and prototyped an operable training wall with multiple adjustable panels. With more than one operable panel, the wall angle combinations increase exponentially. This opportunity will allow climbers to train on multiple wall configurations falling within the range of concave and convex. The scale and number of adjustable panels will ultimately be limited only to the client’s imagination. Dream big!
Presenter: Cody Sorensen, Spectrum Sports International
This presentation will cover mobile climbing towers, how they fit in the industry, and how they can be profitable. Anyone who has considered a mobile wall can benefit. We will also discuss pre-fabricated walls.
Presenter: Kimberly Prager, Nicros
Attendees will learn about the benefits of volumes and Nicros’ E.H.T.™, including their aesthetic, practicality, and value. This combination presentation/discussion is aimed at routesetters and gym owners/operators looking to add the wow factor to their gym. Nicros will discuss how Volumes not only add features to your otherwise static wall, but they are lightweight and easy for routsetters to use. The Nicros patented Extreme Hold Technology™ is up to 220% lighter than other similar products, and hold all the benefits you look for in quality holds. You’ll see examples of how they’ve been used in 2013 competitions and have time to ask questions and share your experiences with volumes. Leave with useful information and effective motivation to purchase a volume and see for yourself.
Presenter: Matt Andrews, Sterling Rope
This workshop will discuss how rope is made and specifically how it is made for longevity in the gym. There will be an overview of rope construction, rope testing, impact forces and elongation. Samples of various dynamic, low elongation and static ropes will be shown and when to use each type will be discussed. We will look at how to set up top ropes to improve longevity and what elements in a gym might reduce rope life. In addition, we will show how to take care of ropes in your gym - how to properly inspect, cut and label ropes, how to avoid sheath slippage, how to “fix” ropes with sheath slippage, and even how to wash your ropes.
