Climbing Wall Association Partners with Access Fund
Gunks Summit to address transitioning climber education
BOULDER, CO (August 15, 2013) – The Climbing Wall Association (CWA), the voice of the climbing wall industry, is pleased to announce an upcoming partnership with the Access Fund. This fall, the CWA will present on transitioning climber education as a part of the Access Fund’s Educate for Access Summit.
The Access Fund has invited climbing leaders and advocates to the Gunks of New York to tackle one of the most pressing issues facing our sport today: educating climbers who are transitioning from indoor to outdoor climbing. The growth of climbing has led to growing impacts to access, the environment, and user experience. Summit attendees will discuss and formulate strategies for educational outreach to lessen these impacts to our climbing areas.
“We are excited to be a part of this event and to partner with other like-minded organizations like the Access Fund”, states Bill Zimmermann, CWA’s CEO. “The growth of climbing has led to easy access and more users. This is a very positive development, but must be managed appropriately to ensure the future success both indoor and outdoor climbing. Through this Summit, we hope to create long-standing solutions to these current obstacles.”
The educational summit will he held from October 31 – November 2 and will include around 50 climbing and land access leaders.
